‘Large Crowd Gathers for Filipino Celebration in Emirates’
Thousands of people gathered in Dubai to celebrate the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence at a grand public event over the weekend. Among the distinguished guests was Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, who joined Alfonso Ferdinand, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the UAE, along with various Emirati officials and members of the Filipino community.
Organized by the “UAE Loves the Philippines” page in collaboration with Dubai Police, the event aimed to strengthen the close ties between the two nations and enhance cooperation. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak commended the strong relations and strategic cooperation between the UAE and the Philippines, expressing a desire to further deepen collaboration and establish a strategic economic partnership.
The Minister also praised the contributions of the Filipino community to the UAE’s development journey, highlighting the country’s reputation as a global model for diversity and inclusivity. The celebration, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, showcased Filipino culture through various artistic performances, folkloric dances, and exhibitions of crafts and arts.
The UAE and the Republic of the Philippines share a long history of strong relations, which led to the formal establishment of diplomatic ties in the 1970s. Today, the UAE is home to a large Filipino community that plays a vital role in the country’s growth and development. With both nations committed to fostering cultural exchange and cooperation, the celebration served as a testament to the enduring friendship and partnership between the UAE and the Philippines.
