Customs in Abu Dhabi sees significant increase in digital transactions in the first half of 2024
The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has announced a significant 27 per cent increase in digital customs transactions across the border points of Abu Dhabi in the first half of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. This surge in digital transactions highlights the commitment of Abu Dhabi Customs to modernize and streamline their operations to better serve their customers.
One of the key factors contributing to this increase is the rise in proactive and automated transactions, which saw a notable 28 per cent growth in the first half of 2024. These types of transactions are becoming more prevalent and are playing a crucial role in revolutionizing the customs processes in Abu Dhabi. Services such as proactive insurance refund service, truck transit permits, entry and exit permits for goods at customs centers, and customs certificates for vehicles are among the offerings provided by Abu Dhabi Customs.
In addition, the issuance of entry and exit customs certificates has been automated, making it easier for customers to prepare their customs declarations. The increased adoption of such digital services has contributed to a two per cent growth in customs declarations in the first half of 2024.
Pre-arrival customs clearance transactions have been a standout performer, comprising 71 per cent of the total customs clearance transactions across various customs ports in Abu Dhabi. This segment saw a remarkable 46 per cent growth compared to the same period in 2023, highlighting the efficiency and effectiveness of the customs procedures in the emirate.
Furthermore, the time taken for customs clearance transactions has been reduced to 13.86 minutes in the first half of 2024, down from 15.47 minutes during the same period in 2023. This improvement in processing times is a result of the continued efforts of Abu Dhabi Customs to enhance their services and streamline their operations for the benefit of their customers.
The high level of customer satisfaction with Abu Dhabi Customs services is evident from the 94 per cent rating they achieved in the Customer Satisfaction Index on the TAMM platform. This achievement underscores the dedication of Abu Dhabi Customs to providing exceptional services and ensuring a seamless customer experience.
His Excellency Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, lauded the growth rates achieved by the organization, attributing them to their commitment to digital transformation and the adoption of modern technology and artificial intelligence tools. He emphasized the importance of continuously improving services, implementing innovative solutions, and aligning with global best practices to meet the evolving needs of customers and achieve the highest standards in customs clearance time.
In conclusion, Abu Dhabi Customs is making significant strides in digital transformation and customer service excellence, setting a benchmark for customs authorities globally. With a focus on leveraging advanced technologies and smart systems, Abu Dhabi Customs is poised to play a vital role in supporting the emirate’s economic objectives and driving trade facilitation initiatives.
