Contract Worth AED696.414 Million Awarded for Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has taken a significant step toward enhancing urban mobility by awarding a contract valued at AED 696.414 million for the development of the Trade Centre Roundabout. This project aims to revamp one of the city’s most critical intersections, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global business hub.
The Trade Centre Roundabout serves as a pivotal link between Sheikh Zayed Road and five major thoroughfares: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid Street, 2nd December Street, Zabeel Palace Street, and Al Mustaqbal Street. These routes are not only vital for daily commuters but are also integral to the logistics and operational efficiency of Dubai’s business districts, including the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
This ambitious project will see the construction of five new bridges, cumulatively spanning approximately 5,000 meters. One of the central features of the redevelopment will be the conversion of the existing roundabout into a surface intersection. This modification is designed to facilitate smoother traffic flow, particularly for vehicles transitioning from Sheikh Zayed Road to 2nd December Street and for southbound traffic from Al Mustaqbal Street. “This development will cut delays from 12 minutes to a mere 90 seconds, and the travel time from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street will reduce drastically from six minutes to just one minute,”
