Dubai Airport to host 3.43 million visitors in the next fortnight
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is gearing up for a busy period as families return to the city and children prepare to head back to school. According to a statement released by Dubai Airports, DXB is expecting to welcome 3.43 million guests over the next 13 days, starting from August 21 to September 2, 2024. Daily traffic is expected to average around 264,000, with peak days potentially seeing up to 291,000 guests.
To accommodate the influx of travelers, DXB has offered some helpful tips for arriving passengers, including the use of Smart gates to expedite the passport control process. Additionally, passengers are encouraged to take advantage of the various amenities such as lounges, dining, shopping outlets, and duty-free options while waiting for their flights. For those looking to leave the airport, the Dubai Metro is a convenient option with stations located at DXB Terminals 1 and 3.
If you have someone picking you up from the airport, they can utilize the designated car parks or valet services at DXB. It’s important to note that access to the Arrivals’ forecourts in Terminals 1 and 3 is limited to public transport and authorized airport vehicles only.
Despite the current busy period, DXB is no stranger to high traffic volumes throughout the year. In fact, the airport recently set a new record by welcoming 44.9 million guests in the first half of 2024, marking an eight percent year-on-year increase. The numbers for January 2024 alone showed close to 8 million passengers passing through the airport, contributing to the busiest quarter in history.
Looking ahead, DXB is on track to potentially receive a record 91 million passengers in 2024, surpassing the previous annual traffic record of 89.1 million set in 2018. Paul Griffiths, chief executive of Dubai Airports, expressed confidence in exceeding the 90 million mark this year, citing the expanded network from Emirates and flydubai as contributing factors to the growth.
With the airport bustling with activity, it’s important for travelers to plan ahead and make use of the available resources to ensure a smooth journey. Whether you’re arriving or departing from DXB, taking advantage of the suggested tips can help streamline your travel experience and make the most of your time at the airport.
As the summer holiday season winds down and the new school year approaches, Dubai International Airport is preparing for a surge in passenger traffic. With record-breaking numbers already achieved in the first half of 2024, DXB continues to be a hub of activity and connectivity for travelers from around the world.
