Organization to start training program on psychomotor therapy for individuals with autism spectrum disorders
Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) has taken a groundbreaking step in advancing the field of rehabilitation by launching a masterclass training programme in partnership with the Higher Institute for Psychomotor Therapy (ISRP) from France. This unique programme is dedicated to applying Psychomotor Therapy (PMT) for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with the aim of enhancing the care and support for individuals with ASD.
The training programme is set to take place during the prestigious World Congress Rehabilitation 2024 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of ZHO’s board. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first time the congress is being held in the Middle East. The event will span from 23-25 September and will focus on the theme of Work and Employment. Organized by ZHO in collaboration with Rehabilitation International (RI), the International Social Security Association (ISSA), and the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Office within the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT), this event is set to attract a global audience of professionals in the field of rehabilitation.
The training programme will delve into the intricacies of PMT, a rehabilitation therapy developed by the pioneering French physical therapist, Giselle Soubiran, in the 1950s. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of PMT and its specific application to ASD, exploring the neurological and bodily functions that contribute to its effectiveness in rehabilitation. The training will consist of two sessions, with the first focusing on evaluating the PMT system and its impact on individuals with ASD, while the second session will concentrate on implementing psychomotor rehabilitation strategies for children affected by ASD.
Speaking on the initiative, His Excellency Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary General of ZHO, expressed his delight in offering this specialist training opportunity, emphasizing the importance of equipping healthcare professionals with the skills necessary to enhance the care of individuals with ASD. He highlighted the commitment of ZHO and ISRP to promoting the rights of People of Determination in the UAE and globally, aligning with the goals of the World Congress on Rehabilitation in Abu Dhabi.
This initiative underscores the dedication of ZHO and ISRP to exploring innovative rehabilitation methods that aim to improve the quality of care for People of Determination. By providing knowledge and skills to healthcare professionals, the masterclass promises to elevate the standard of care for individuals with ASD, paving the way for a more inclusive and supportive environment.
The course fee for the masterclass is set at AED3,500 per participant for the five-day sessions, with an early bird offer of AED3,000 available for registrations completed before 1 August 2024. Attendance will be limited to 30 participants to ensure a focused and engaging learning experience. Healthcare professionals interested in participating can register through the Psychomotor Therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorder MasterClass registration form available on the ZHO website.
In conclusion, ZHO’s partnership with ISRP to launch this masterclass training programme represents a significant milestone in advancing the field of rehabilitation for individuals with ASD. By equipping healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge, this initiative has the potential to transform the quality of care and support offered to People of Determination, setting a new standard for inclusive and effective rehabilitation practices.
