“Innovative Biometric Smart Travel Project Coming to Zayed International Airport”

Abu Dhabi Airports has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) to launch the innovative Smart Travel biometric project at Zayed International Airport. This collaboration, developed with Next 50 – a leading AI-based transportation solutions provider, is set to revolutionize the travel experience at the airport.

The Smart Travel project will be rolled out in three phases, with the main goal of integrating biometric authentication systems across all security and operational checkpoints at the airport. By leveraging the ICP databases, the initiative will enable seamless authentication for travellers without the need for prior registration, enhancing security measures while optimizing passenger flow.

A key feature of the Biometric Smart Travel project is its ability to significantly reduce traveller processing time, from 25 seconds to a mere 7 seconds. This streamlined process consolidates ticket and travel document verification, utilizing smart gates for efficient identity verification and easing the burden on human resources.

Not only does this project benefit travellers by enhancing the overall airport experience, but it also offers numerous advantages for the airport itself. By eliminating the need for costly infrastructure expansions, it boosts airline performance and helps detect fraud and forgery in identification documents, thus enhancing security measures.

Currently, only Etihad Airways has fully implemented the biometric systems across multiple touchpoints at the airport. However, the authorities have ambitious plans to extend these systems to all security and operational checkpoints, as well as other airlines, by 2025.

This strategic partnership between Abu Dhabi Airports and the ICP underscores a commitment to maintaining top-notch passenger services with a primary focus on traveller security and safety. By delivering exceptional global travel experiences throughout the airports, this initiative aims to elevate the standard of travel and set new benchmarks in aviation security.

In conclusion, the implementation of the Biometric Smart Travel project at Zayed International Airport heralds a new era of innovation and efficiency in airport operations. With an unwavering dedication to security, safety, and passenger satisfaction, Abu Dhabi Airports is poised to lead the way in revolutionizing the travel experience for all.
