‘Efforts Made to Enhance Relations Between UAE and Philippines’
The United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recently met with Philippine counterpart Enrique Manalo in Manila as part of a working visit. The meeting, held on June 4th, 2024, aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two nations as they approach the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties in August 1974.
During the discussions, both ministers focused on fostering bilateral relations and outlining plans for expanded cooperation across various sectors. They acknowledged the strong foundation built on mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to their citizens’ well-being.
The milestone of 50 years of diplomatic relations provided an opportunity to explore avenues for enhancing the partnership. Sheikh Abdullah underscored the UAE’s desire for a flourishing relationship aligned with the development goals of both countries, particularly in trade and investment.

In addition to meeting Minister Manalo, Sheikh Abdullah also met with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his visit. Their discussions echoed the themes of cooperation and growth, with President Marcos expressing gratitude for the UAE’s support and emphasizing the relationship’s depth and potential for further development.
